Technique
I generally do my digital photography with an Olympus C-2100
Ultra Zoom Camera (38-380mm) shooting at SHQ (1600x1200), edit using
Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition, and produce Epson 9500 archival
inkjet prints. However, all of these images were made with an Olympus
D-460Z at SHQ (1240x960) to illustrate that in the right setting
a medium priced digital camera can be a useful fine-art tool in
its own right. Some images were done with available light; in others
a fill flash was used. |

Generalmente tomo fotografías digitales con una cámara
Olympus C-2100 Ultra Zoom (38-380mm) en modo SHQ (1600x1200), las
edito en Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition y las imprimo en una
Epson 9500. Sin embargo, estas imágenes se tomaron con una
Olympus D-460Z en modo SHQ (1240x960) para mostrar que, en el contexto
correcto, una cámara digital de precio mediano puede ser
una herramienta artística eficaz. Algunas imágenes
se tomaron con la luz disponible; en otras, se usó un flash
de relleno. |

Comments
The model is Kathryn, and the images were shot in February
2001 in an unused, unheated loft of an old building. I enjoy working
with a digital camera because I have immediate access to the image
(via the LCD, and in terms of downloading); and the JPEG image
files are easy to edit in the computer. Although, there is some
digital manipulation in all these images, it is confined to what
would normally be done in a photo darkroom or by a post-printing
touchup artist.

La modelo es Kathryn y las imágenes se tomaron en un desván
vacío y sin calefacción en un viejo edificio. Me
gusta trabajar con una cámara digital porque tengo acceso
inmediato a la imagen (por medio del monitor LCD y por la facilidad
para descargarlas); las imágenes JPEG son fáciles
de editar en la computadora. Aunque hay algo de manipulación
digital en estas imágenes, me limitó a lo que se
haría normalmente en un cuarto oscuro o a los retoques
que podrían realizarse sobre la impresión.
