Technique
This portfolio was made in the Centro Morelense de las Artes (Mexico) with two models and using a Mamiya 6 camera (medium format 6x6) and Kodak Tri X 400 film. The negatives were scanned. The shots were reframed and retouched with Adobe Photoshop 5.5 on an iBook.

Este portafolio fue realizado en el Centro Morelense de las Artes con dos modelos y usando una cámara Mamiya 6 (formato mediano 6x6) y película Kodak Tri X 400. Los negativos fueron digitalizados. Se re-encuadraron las tomas y se retocaron con Adobe Photoshop 5.5 en una iBook.

All is dead. From the moment we are born all things our senses capture and our mind tries to conceptualize (what we smell, hear, touch, taste and see), our connection with reality, keep us in a state of bliss, ecstasies, that weakens as years go by.
To be able to understand the information we receive from our senses we have to relate all, based in comparisons: tall-short, weak-strong, rough-smooth, sweet-sour, etc. And it is through this relations that we experience things, conceptualizing our world. Therefore, everything that passes through our eyes and we interpret dies immediately. So it is that in photography I become a narrator of dead images, of the things that I have witnessed and processed through my eyes and in the act of looking change into a no-reality, visible to me and the reader. Duality, diversity, conflict, the otherness, the contrary, antagonism that resolves in the androgynous, in harmony. Without forgetting that all is dead.

This portfolio is part of a book that I just published with the title Post Mortem.

Todo está muerto. Lo que nuestros sentidos capturan desde el momento que nacemos y que toma tiempo conceptualizar: oler, oír, tocar, gustar y ver; nuestra conexión con la realidad, nos mantiene en un estado de éxtasis, que conforme pasan los años se desvanece.
El poder comprender la información que recibimos de nuestros sentidos, se basa en un proceso comparativo: alto-bajo, fuerte-débil, áspero-liso, dulce-amargo, etc. Y es a través de esta relación que asimilamos experiencias, conceptualizando el mundo. De tal manera, que todo lo que vemos e interpretamos, una vez que pasa por nuestros ojos, muere de inmediato. Así, dentro de la fotografía, me vuelvo un narrador de imágenes muertas, de aquellas cosas que he presenciado y que a través del acto de mirar, convierto en una no-realidad visible para mí y tambien para aquellos que se enfrentan a mi trabajo. Dualidad, diversidad, conflicto, la otredad, lo contrario, antagonismo que se resuelve en el andrógino, en la armonía. Sin olvidar que todo ha muerto.
