Football is one of the most 'worshipped' sports in the world, and is played by all nations. There is a growing need to find the fittest and most skilled players. Clubs and agents will go to great lengths and expense to find these new talents.

I spent three months in Ghana, working with a colleague who has set up his own football academy and is currently in the process of transferring players to European clubs. During my time there I wanted to record the developments of the team, as a reflection and contrast, to how the lives of these players might be if they 'make it all the way' with their careers. Many of the players come from a large township where I spent much time getting to know the families and the conditions in which these people are surviving.

The work was carried out between January and April 2001

El futbol es uno de los deportes más 'reverenciados' del mundo y todas las naciones lo juegan . Se vuelve más necesario buscar a los jugadores más talentosos. Los clubes y los agentes no reparan en gastos y esfuerzos para encontrar talentos nuevos.

Pasé tres meses en Gana, trabajando con un colega que formó su propia academia de futbol y que actualmente está por transferir jugadores a clubes europeos. Durante mi estadía, quise registrar el desarrollo del equipo como reflexión y punto de contraste de cómo podrían cambiar las vidas de los jugadores si llegan hasta la cima de sus carreras. Muchos de los jugadores vienen de una ciudad pobre en la que pasé mucho tiempo conociendo a sus familias y las condiciones en que estas personas sobreviven.
