The project, which started out as “The Accidental
Tourist” in Singapore, turned the spot light on the Pa
Sat. Pa Sat is the Malay word for Market. Markets give
you an instant insight to a country’s culture and
people with its sights and smells. In the fast paced,
rat race Singapore the hawkers are a rare breed.
The
Pa Sat is always bustling with activities but they
always manage a smile on their face and time for idle
chitchat with a stranger. They are not just peddling
tofu, curry powder and fish-balls but a lifestyle that
we have become too accustomed to and taken for
granted. |

El proyecto comenzó como “El turista accidental” en
Singapur, enfocándose en el PaSat. Pa Sat es “mercado” en
Malayo. Los mercados son una ventana a la cultura de un país
y su pueblo con sus vistas y aromas. En el Singapur moderno los
vendedores ambulantes son una
rara especie.
El Pa Sat siempre hierve de actividad
pero ellos siempre brindan una sonrisa y una
conversación con un extraño. No solo venden tofu,
curry y pescado, sino también un estilo de vida al que
nos hemos acostumbrado y damos por hecho. |
