I f places could be described in a single word, for Cuba it would be:
" surreal".
Past, present and future are impressed on people´s faces, and looking at them is the only way to get to the heart of the island. The Santiago taxi driver who proudly tells visitors he fought with Fidel on the Sierra Maestra. The man who offers to polish your Birkenstock sandals in the streets of Trinidad. The guy who, in Havana market, peels lemons so fast you can hardly follow his hands. Cubans all struggle every day to earn a living. Or, as they say, "buscarse la vida". And it´s really hard to forget their faces".

Si los lugares pudieran ser descritos con una sola palabra, para Cuba sería "surreal"
Pasado, presente y futuro están impresos en los rostros de la gente y mirarlos es la única manera de llegar al corazón de la isla.
En realidad, es muy difícil olvidar sus rostros.
