As a photographer I have interests in the relation
between landscape. memory and time. A photograph is
mostly seen as a frozen moment in time.
The turbulent
western world is conditioned to experience the image
as a fleeting, immediate fulfilment.
Time matters
less
in such environment as the Brazilian ‘Sertão’.
Memory means therefore more. During my stay in the back lands I became aware of a different world where time passed slowly.
The relation between men and his direct environment is crucial and involves personal history, religion and social structures.
What struck me personally was the presence of the mystique which is underneath the surface of everyday life.

Comentarios
Como fotógrafo me interesa la relación entre paisaje,
memoria y tiempo. Una fotografía es vista en su mayor
parte como un momento congelado.
El turbulento mundo
occidental está condicionado a experimentar la imagen
como un gozo hudizo inmediato.
El tiempo importa menos
en un ambiente como el ‘Sertão’ brasileño.
La memoria
significa más. Durante mi estadía en este lugar me
volví conciente de un mundo distinto en donde el
tiempo pasa lentamente.
La relación entre los hombres
y su medio ambiente es crucial e involucra la historia
personal, la religión y las estructuras sociales.
Lo
que más me impactó fue la presencia de la mística que
yace bajo la cotidianeidad.
