The subway comes, the subway goes
I do not intend to expound upon or even less boast of my philosophical gifts as a certain political figure of the Zulia state in northwestern Venezuela. I’m going to tell you what I saw on December 24, 2008, in the Maracaibo subway, not with words, but with images. Judging from the fact it had been an unfinished work and that many people had an opinion on its belonging to that city, which by the way has the most chaotic public transport system in the country, the news of the arrival of the train at its final Libertador station stunned the neighbors of Sabaneta. Rarely as on that day were the trains of the subway as full of people, on par with the buses on Route 6, for a complex system meshes seven trains working simultaneously to make the high volume of passages travel fluidly to their different destinations. I submit to you this photographic essay that attempts to show the first time that subway reached Las Pulgas market on December 24 and how the people forgot the years that they had put up with the inconvenience of the construction. This piece of work is a gift to Señora Herminia del Las Vistas neighborhood who had to rise at 3 am everyday to “fetch” water because of work on the subway.

El Metro sale, el metro llega
No pretendo ser extenso y mucho menos hacer alardes de mis dotes filosóficas como si lo hace cierto personaje político del Estado Zulia. Te voy a contar no con palabras si con imágenes lo que vi el 24 de diciembre del 2008 en el Metro de Maracaibo. A juzgar porque es una obra inconclusa y que más de uno tiene opinión sobre su pertinencia para esta ciudad, que cabe acotar posee el sistema de transporte público más caótico del país, la noticia del arribo del tren a su última estación; Libertador, conmocionó a los vecinos de Sabaneta.Pocas veces como este día los vagones del metro se verán repletos de gente igualando los buses de Ruta 6, pues un complejo sistema que engrana 7 trenes trabajando simultáneamente hará que el alto volumen de pasajeros se desplace con fluidez a sus distintas rutas. Te entrego este ensayo fotografico que pretende mostrar la primera vez que el metro llegó al mercado Las Pulgas un 24 de diciembre y como la gente olvidó los años que padeció las molestias de su construcción. Este trabajo es un regalo a la Señora Herminia del Barrio Las Vistas que tiene que levantarse a las 3 am todos los días a “coger” agua por culpa del metro.
