As Marcel Duchamp said, it  doesn't really matter if the work was produced with your own hands or by means of a technical instrument, what matters is the choice, the fact of transforming an element of the real world into something different to its original purpose, this way the chosen object acquires a new thought, the possibility of being thought as an aesthetic element.

That is why the important thing is not how much reality is in the work, but the interpretation made of that reality, its language. There is always a tension between the figurative and the abstract between imitation and a more or less simplified idealization

Como afirmaba Marcel Duchamp, importa poco haber producido la obra con mis propias manos o mediante un instrumento técnico: lo importante es su elección, el hecho de partir de un elemento normal de la realidad y disponerlo de tal forma que pierda la función para la que ha sido creado. De este modo, el objeto elegido adquiere un nuevo pensamiento: la posibilidad de ser pensado como elemento estético.

Por ello, lo importante no es lo que de realidad tiene la obra, sino la interpretación que se hace de esa realidad, su lenguaje. Existe siempre una tensión constante entre figuración y abstracción, entre la imitación y la idealización más o menos simplificada.
