When I began this series, I had been thinking of the significance of rooms in our society. I desired to communicate emotions using the metaphor of the room. Sort of a 'room for thought,' each picture is an exploration of a thought, feeling, or sometimes a fragmente of a story that has been on my mind. The very idea that one can create an imaginary place that has the illusion of being real is exciting and still very new to the photography audience. Because of this, digitally manipulated art is frequently viewed as not being 'legitimate', a distinction that, in the art world, traditional photography has held for many years. I believe that as people see more and more this type of work, it will become an accepted art form. This is the art of the future; a melding of painting, collage, and photography that forms a completely new way of looking at the world.

Using Adobe Photoshop 6.0 to modify, manipulate, and collage photographs taken with a digital camera, I feel I am stepping forward into this relatively uncharted territory.

Cuando comencé esta serie, había estado pensando en lo que significan los cuartos en nuestra sociedad. Quería transmitir emociones a través del cuarto como metáfora, un espacio que da cabida al pensamiento. Cada cuarto explora un pensamiento, un sentimiento o, a veces, un fragmento de una historia que me ha venido en mente. La idea misma de crear un espacio imaginario con una ilusión de realidad es emocionante y todavía muy novedosa para el público de la fotografía. Por esta razón, el arte manipulado digitalmente ha sido considerado como ilegítimo, distinción que ha sido sostenida por la fotografía tradicional por muchos años. Con una mayor difusión, creo que este tipo de trabajos se volverán una forma aceptada de arte. Este es el arte del futuro; una mezcla de pintura, collage y fotografía que conforma un modo completamente nuevo de mirar el mundo.

Usando Adobe Photoshop 6.0 para modificar, manipular y hacer collages con las fotografías tomadas con una cámara digital, siento que estoy adentrándome en estos territorios relativamente inexplorados.
