The content of my artistic practice, for years, has addressed
themes of domination: the psyche by the dream or ideal, the conscience
by guilt, the personality by passion.
My recent body of work titled "Base Imprints" consists
of digitally composite "types" which subtly explore
impressions of the fragility and ferocity of pre-pubescence. This
is where some of the early, deeply impressionable experiences
with power, transgression, trust, fear and domination are played
out. Sometimes the line between the bully and the bullied is blurred.
Boundaries are set up, negotiated and remapped. Rules can
instantly "go out the window".
The sleek "composting" effects of the computer that
I employ, where real and unreal are seamlessly blended,
also reflect the ambiguities of life in our digital age.
The intrinsic nature of the photograph, in spite of it's questionable
verisimilitude, still lends a kind of quality of seeming to be
true. This seductive quality still draws us in.

EL contenido de mi arte por años ha tratado el tema de
la dominación, la psique por el sueño del ideal,
la conciencia por la culpa, la personalidad por la pasión.
Mi más receinte obra titulada "Base Imprints"
(Impresiones básicas)
consiste en "tipos" compuestos que exploran con sutileza
las impresiones de fragilidad y ferocidad de la pre-adolesencia.
Aquí es cuando tienen lugaralgunas de las primerasy más
profundas experiencias con el poder, la transgresión, la
confianza, el miedo y la dominación. La línea entre
el abusador y el abusado se difumina. Se establecen los límites.
Las reglas pueden"salir volando por la ventana".
Los impecables efectos de composición que utilizo en la
computadora qeu me permiten mezclar perfecatmente lo real y lo
irreal, reflejando a suvez las ambiguedades de nuestra vida en
la era digital.
La naturaleza intrínseca de la fotografía, a pesar
de su cuestionable veracidad sigue otorgsando cierta cualidad
de apariencia verdadera, qeu nos atrae.
