Technique
As most self-taught photographers, formed by their own experimentation, I arrived at this technique after combining different procedures. First of all, I choose a negative photogram and make a positive duplicate. I then damage it without any misgivings; I even bury it for a few days under dry earth -like that of the desert in which I live.

By the time I unearth it, it is sufficiently deteriorated for me to make another duplicate and change it back to negative.I copy them on pearl or semi-mate paper which I then tone to sepia with expired chemicals –I generally leave the bottles out in the sun during the summer for more than a month to decompose the toning liquid-.

Técnica
Como todo autodidacta, formado a base de la propia experimentación, llegué a esta técnica después de combinar distintos procedimientos. En primer lugar escojo un fotograma negativo y lo duplico a positivo. Lo maltrato sin ningún escrúpulo, incluso lo dejo unos días bajo tierra seca -como la del desierto en el que vivo-.

Cuando lo extraigo, ya está lo suficientemente deteriorado como para duplicarlo nuevamente y convertirlo otra vez en negativo. Copio sobre papeles perla o semimate que luego viro al sepia con químicos vencidos -generalmente dejo las botellas al sol del verano por más de un mes para descomponer el virador-.

Back from the Desert is a series of 25 photographs shot between 1996 and 2000; it's a closed cycle of mistreatments. A difficult geography that mistreated men and objects which were already dead because of the mistreatment confered on them by those men. The men went away and dead objects still remain there as a warning that deserts are not to be played with.

In October of 2000 this collection will be exhibited in a gallery in La Pampa, Argentina, which is where the photographs were taken.

Volver del Desierto es una serie de 25 fotografías realizadas entre 1996 y 2000. Es un ciclo cerrado de malos tratos. Una geografía difícil que maltrató a los hombres y los objetos ya muertos a fuerza del maltrato que esos hombres propinaron. Los hombres se fueron y los objetos muertos aún permanecen ahí, como advertencia de que con el desierto no se juega.

En octubre de 2000 esta colección será exhibida por primera vez en una galería de La Pampa, Argentina, lugar donde fueron realizadas las tomas.
