Hospitality is a an ancient principle
that modern times have intemperized. This five
images
are part of a series of 60 images called "Bienvenido
/
Welcome".
The series is a
tribute to hospitality in different parts of the
World. It all began with Fran and Miladi (the cuban
couple in the image 1). Without expecting
anything in return, they invited me to stay for a
week and treated me as if I was part of their family
just because I was mexican and they seemed to like
me. Inspired by their generosity, I painted a
watercolor of their living room and gave it to
them
as a symbo! l of my thankfulness. Before parting,
I
took a digital photograph of the watercolor
painting
and another one of them sitting in their living
room´s couch. Afterwards, I fusioned the two images
with the aide of photoshop. First it was Cuba,
then
Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Turkey, France
and so on until my journey ended back in Mexico. It
is
a visual travel journey, an anthropological study
of
men´s hospitality to a stranger.

La hospitalidad es un antiguo principio que los
tiempos modernos han desbordado. Estas 5 imágenes
son
parte de una serie de 60, llamada Bienvenido /
Welcome".
La serie es un homenaje a la hospiatlidad
en
diferentes partes del mundo. Todo empezó en Cuba con
Fran y Miladi (la pareja de la foto 1). Sin esperar
nada a cambio, me inviataron a quedarme una semana y
me trataron como si fuera de la familia. Inspirado
por
su generosidad, pinté una acuarela de su sala y se
las
regalé como símbolo de mi agradecimiento. Antes de
partir, tomé una foto digital de la acuarela y otra
de
ellos sentados en el sillón de su sala. Después,
fusioné las dos imágenes con la ayuda de Photoshop.
Primero fue Cuba, luego Sri Lanka, India, Nepal,
Pakistán, Turquía, Francia y demás hasta mi regreso
a
México. Es un viaje visual, un estudio antropológico
de la hospitalidad del hombre hacia un extraño.
