Comment:
My goal is not simply to capture an image on film. Rather, I wish to convey to the viewer the emotional impact of the scene as I viewed it with the naked eye.

Quoting Alfred Stieglitz, I use photography to create an equivalent' of what I see and feel. I spend more time examining the scene before me than I do exposing film; often the camera never leaves its case. I work almost exclusively with large format view cameras. The large negative allows me to capture the ubtlety and range of tonality I prefer. The increased detail gives me the freedom to explore and break down the image - often to the point of abstraction - in my attempt to reveal the subject's true 'essence.'
