My
photography attempts to investigate social landscapes and the
psycho-geography inherent in contemporary urban environments.
These selected images represent a variety of different work and
concerns. The „Safeway‰ and „8th Floor‰ images
are from my Tunnel Vision series, which explores the mundane public
spaces that we pass through everyday: the hallways of corporate
office buildings, public transportation, supermarkets.
These
passage-ways are in-between spaces, specifically designed to make
the flow of human bodies as quick, linear, and efficient as possible.
The fact that they force pedestrian movement (and vision) into
a single controlled flow in order to achieve efficiency is indicative
of the contemporary public landscape.
The
two highway images (Highway 99 and Rearview) are from a series
investigating the American mythologies of driving and the West.
Finally, the „Luxor‰ image is from a series on tourism,

Mi
fotografía intenta investigar los paisajes sociales y la
psico-geografía inherente a los ambientes urbanos contemporáneos.
Las imágenes seleccionadas representan una variedad de
trabajos e intereses. Las fotografías “Safeway”
y “8th Floor” son imágenes de mi serie “Vista
de túnel” que explora los espacios públicos
mundanos que todos atravesamos diariamente: los pasillos de edificios
de oficinas corporativas, los del transporte público, los
de los supermercados.
Estos
pasillos se encuentran en medio de otros espacios, específicamente
diseñados para que los cuerpos de los seres humanos fluyan
tan rápido y tan eficientemente como sea posible. El hecho
de que obliguen al peatón (y a la visión) a circular
en una sola dirección para alcanzar la eficiencia es una
muestra de lo que es paisaje público contemporáneo.
Las
dos imágenes de carreteras (Highway 99 y Rearview) forman
parte de una serie que trata sobre los mitos estadounidenses acerca
de manejar en el Oeste. Finalmente, la imagen “Luxor”
es parte de una serie sobre turismo, colonialismo y simulación.
