When I first arrived at The Salton Sea, I photographed out of curiosity and intrigue. I had a fallacious perception that these structures had been decaying for decades and would continue to slowly deteriorate from nature´s onslaught for many more decades to come. That was not the case; the end of The Salton Sea´s mystique was not to come at the hand of Mother Nature, but by the devastating blow of a wrecking ball.
With the demolition of the Salton Bay Yacht Club, I suddenly felt an urgency and obligation to capture this inimitable point in time. My work was no longer selfish, but rather necessary.

Through my photography, I strive to record this unique period of loss, rebirth and imminent demise. It is inevitable that these ghost towns, and the stories they keep, will be demolished-their era is over-and such is life. But, through my work, I hope to capture and embody the rich history, vibrancy, and life of the Sea that has for too long fallen on deaf ears and averted eyes.

Cuando llegué por vez primera al Mar de Salton, lo fotografié debido mi curiosidad y a que me intrigaba.
Tuve la falsa percepción de que estas estructuras llevaban décadas de abandono y que continuarían desmoronándose lentamente por los embates de la naturaleza por muchas décadas más.
No fue este el caso , el fin del misterio del Mar de Salton no vino de la mano de la Madre Naturaleza sino del devastador golpe de una bola de demolición. Con la demolición del Club de Yates de la Bahía de Salton, repentinamente sentí la urgencia y la obligación de capturar este inimitable momento en el tiempo. Mi trabajo ya no era egoísta sino muy necesario. A través de mi fotografía, lucho por registrar este período único de pérdida, renacimiento y partida inminente. Es inevitable que estos pueblos fantasma y las historias que guardan sean demolidas, su era ha terminado y así es la vida. Pero a través de mi trabajo espero capturar y encarnar la rica y vibrante historia y vida del Mar y que por demasiado tiempo ha llegado a oídos sordos..
