This work constitutes an experiment in visual anthropology--I examine the scientific and social utilities of investigating religious diversity in Houston through the still camera. Through these images, I try to communicate to the viewer the sacred moments I glimpsed in churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, and other religious spaces.

This series is expressly uncaptioned, except for the names of the religious spaces. The intent here is to exclude the cultural bias inherent in written descriptions, for viewers bring their own cultural baggage to every picture and relate to each image at different levels--emotional, intellectual, and spiritual.

Este trabajo es un experimento en antropología visual - examino las utilidades científicas y sociales de investigar la diversidad religiosa en Houston a través de la cámara fotográfica. A través de estas imágenes, intento transmitir al espectador los momentos sagrados que vislumbré en las iglesias, sinagogas, mezquitas, templos, y otros espacios religiosos.

A propósito esta serie no tiene pies de foto, menos los nombres de los espacios religiosos. El intento aquí es evitar el intrínseco prejuicio cultural de las descripciones escritas, porque los espectadores interpretan cada fotografía según su propia influencia cultural y se relacionan con cada imagen en niveles diferentes - emocional, intelectual y espiritual.
