Portraits from Namsaling, Nepal.
The photographs shown here are selections from a larger project.
The portraits are of villagers from the district of Namsaling,
a small agricultural community in the far east of Nepal, near
the border of Darjeeling and Sikkim.
The people of Namsaling descend from Hindu ancestors from India
in the south, and from Buddhist ancestors from the north in Tibet
and Mongolia.
I visit this village on a regular basis as part of my work with
the Canadian based Nepal Community Development Foundation, (NCDF).
I have been photographing the residents of Namsaling on a regular
basis since 1995.

Estas fotos son una selección de un proyecto más grande.
Los retratos son de los aldeanos del distrito de Namsaling, una
pequeña comunidad agrícola en el extremo oriental
del Nepal, cerca de las fronteras de Darjeeling y Sikkim.
La gente de Namsaling tiene, del sur, ancestros hindúes de
