This work was carried out in the Missionary area of Jardín América, located in the center of the Argentinean province, during the month of April 2000. "The tarefa" is the harvest of 'yerba mate' (Paraguayan tea) which takes place every year between April and June, and one of its special features it that it is still not mechanized given that the selection process is very strict and so the "tarefa" is still harvested by hand.

When the photographs were taken, these men, their wives and children, were on strike, protesting against the price of the Paraguayan tea that they produce, which when the price falls leaves them in extreme poverty. While their lives go on, time goes irreversibly by, and at a cost.

For this reason I decided to do away with landscape and setting, and to just leave Alverto, Toti Ramo, Yun Alverto, Etor, Delima Ester, Ilda Ramas, Ramosa Dasilva…, each one of them with their gaze, their pose, their nervous smile, their good nature, their strength, their scars, their resignation, their struggle.

Este trabajo fue realizado en la localidad Misionera de Jardín América, ubicada en el Centro de la Provincia argentina, durante el mes de abril de 2000." La tarefa", es la cosecha de la Yerba Mate, se realiza todos los años de abril a junio, tiene la particularidad que aún no se ha desarrollado una máquina que realice este trabajo ya que la selección es muy rigurosa por lo cual la "tarefa" se realiza a mano.

En el momento de las fotos, estos hombres con sus mujeres y sus hijos estaban en huelga para luchar contra el precio de la yerba, el de su trabajo, que al caer los deja en la más inescrupulosa miseria. Mientras tanto sus vidas transcurren, el tiempo irreversible continúa, y a un precio muy caro.

Por eso decidí eliminar paisaje y entorno, y dejar solo a Alverto, Toti Ramo, Yun Alverto, Etor, Delima Ester, Ilda Ramas, Ramona Dasilva..., con sus poses, su mirada, su sonrisa nerviosa, su buena predisposición, su fuerza, sus marcas, su resignación, su lucha.
