Two
worlds, one story
By Leonardo Liberman.
"Today
the teacher tells us what day it is; we see whether it's cloudy or sunny;
we know how to count up to number five. She keeps telling us to remain
seated, that we cannot always stand up and do as we please.
Then the
teacher makes gestures with her hands, she firmly pronounces the word
today. We all laugh I hear everybody laughing.
Samantha
asks me, Who are you? but she already knows. I ask her, and she says:
Leo. I ask her, What do I do? and she replies: photos. We have been
getting to know each other I believe, I now know everybody, well, at
least their names.
Sebastián
comes closer, he is very expressive. He makes gestures, and gets very
excited with Natalia's presence, but she is shy and retreats when Sebastián
hugs her.
All the
children and I recognize each other in the pictures. They find themselves
reflected and I am dazzled by their reflection. As I reload the camera
to keep on photographing them, they leave their mark on the photographs
through their emotions.
Gabriel
has a naughty laugh. He understands more than he lets on, he is seductive.
Dominates the situation and dominates us. He sits on the floor in front
of a mirror, seeming to think how the other way around we are of everything;
he also knows the language of reflections.
The first
words are the most difficult. Samantha gives me a deck of cards, I give
it back to her and she thanks me."
