Although each photograph in this series may carry its own specific meaning, the series as a whole is primarily about identity in the most elemental sense. I see some of these beings as attempting to emerge into the world, struggling for definition. Others wish to cloak their identity or live in a purgatory of half-formed selves. In the case of the burning figures, they seek to destroy their identity and recede from physical existence. Perhaps these images attempt to shed light on the fragility of our temporal presence.
