"Sweet expectations"

In this portrait series I am attempting to capture the moments and attitudes that reflect the advent of behavior and gestures of children that,to the adult,might seem borrowed,but that the children experience as their own.

I focus on that border just before puberty,when the child glimpses the contradictions of the adult world.

Childhood dressed up in grownups clothes, wondering what will be.

These expectations and the metamorphosis that awaits at adolescense are rehearsed each day, like someone posturing before the mirror, looking for a hint, perhaps, of what is to come.

"Dulces expectativas"

En esta serie de retratos intento captar ciertos momentos y actitudes que reflejan el advenimiento de conductas, gestos y situaciones que los niños viven como propias y los adultos como prestadas.

Trabajo en esa franja justo antes de la pubertad,donde los niños empiezan a entrever el mundo adulto con sus contradicciones.

La infancia vestida con ropas de grande.
Las mentes de los niños imaginando lo que serán.
Intentar captar en un momento el mandato del debe ser.

Estas expectativas y la metamorfosis que los espera en la adolescencia son ensayadas de manera cotidiana, como una niña que se prueba trajes frente al espejo.

Buscando tal vez algún indicio de lo que vendrá.
