In all these self-portraits I used software to make subtle and not-so-subtle transformations of my face and body to convey a desire for connection with the ancestral past as a basis to the construction of identity, a form of gesture aimed at recovery of the past, a gesture that also knows that such recovery is impossible. I will now show you side-by-side comparisons of these self-portraits, before and after digital alteration.
