YEARS OF MILITAR DICTATORSHIP IN CHILE 1973-1990
In
the daybreak of Tuesday, September 11th, 1973, a group of soldiers
commanded by General Augusto Pinochet and supported by the CIA
and Chilean members of the Right, leaded the coup d'etat, the
bloody military riot that put an end to the Republican tradition
and to President Salvador Allende's life.
While the Presidency was being bombarded, President Allende was
speaking to the nation through Radio Magallanes.
"History
belongs to us and the countries make it...workers of my country,
I have faith in Chile and its destiny...other men will overcome
this grey and bitter moment, where the betrayal is trying to dominate...you
should go on knowing that, sooner than latter, the large avenues
will be opened and free men will walk past them to build a better
society... Long live to Chile! Long live to the people! Long live
to the workers! These are my last words I am sure that my sacrifice
won't be in vain.
Some
minutes later the radio was silenced, and Salvador Allende's voice
too, in a salloon of the Presidency, his dead body was lain. Behind
him there were 160 years of democratic tradition and the whole
Bolivarian dream.

AÑOS DE DICTADURA MILITAR EN CHILE 1973-1990
En
la madrugada del día Martes 11 de Septiembre de 1973, un
grupo de militares golpistas al mando del General Augusto Pinochet
apoyados por la CIA Norteamericana y la derecha Chilena encabezan
la cruenta asonada militar que apagará la tradición
republicana y la vida del presidente Salvador Allende.
En
los momentos que el palacio presidencial era bombardeado el presidente
Allende se dirige al país por la radio Magallanes.
"La
historia es nuestra y la hacen los pueblos...trabajadores de mi
patria, tengo fe en Chile y su destino...superarán otros
hombres este momento gris y amargo donde la traición pretende
imponerse...sigan ustedes sabiendo que, mucho más temprano
que tarde, de nuevo abrirán las grandes alamedas por donde
pase el hombre libre para construir una sociedad mejor...¡viva
Chile, viva el pueblo, vivan los trabajadores... éstas
son mis últimas palabras y tengo la certeza de que mi sacrificio
no será en vano...!
Minutos
más tarde la radio era callada y la voz de Salvador Allende
fue apagada, en uno de los salones yace el cuerpo sin vida del
presidente, atrás quedaban 160 años de tradición
democrática y el sueño Bolivariano.
