Comment:
The art of the still life continues to charm photographers even as it challenges them to conceive of a fresh approach to the tradition. In The Still Life Photography of Ion Zupcu, we present a photographer who has met this challenge successfully and has given us something wonderful and new to contemplate.

While firmly entrenched in the age-old tradition of the still life, Mr. Zupcu takes us well beyond what is expected, combining familiar compositional elements - flowers, vases, keys and leaves, etc. - into novel and often surprising arrangements. The results are silent, utterly peaceful images.

El arte de la naturaleza muerta sigue cautivando a los fotógrafos, aún cuando represente un reto para concebir un nuevo enfoque hacia la tradición. En la naturaleza muerta de Ion Zupcu este reto se ha enfrentado exitosamente y nos obsequia algo nuevo y maravilloso para contemplar.

Aunque firmemente anclado en la antigua tradición de la naturaleza muerta, el Sr. Zupcu nos lleva mucho más allá de lo esperado, al combinar los elementos familiares de la composición-flores, jarrones, llaves, hojas, etcétera- en nuevas y frecuentemente sorprendentes maneras.
