In all, the brown sepia tones of the prints are suggestive of 19th
century romanticism.Fully trained as both a photographer and a printer,
Mr. Zupcu views both as equally crucial to the art. Citing the influence
of Ansel Adams' statement that a good printer will read the negative
as 'musical score to be interpreted,' Zupcu's aim in the dark room
is to give each print a unique, signature style. Mr. Zupcu's sensitivity
in this regard is especially evident in this show - the prints are
truly technical achievements: radiant and sharply detailed, yet
still capturing the dreamy, romantic spirit he wishes to illustrate. |
