Going
back to Thazanguda
Mahasewaren
(left), 13, has been inconsolable since he is sent to the state-run
Tsunami orphanage in Cuddalore. Superintendent T. Leela, who is
in charge of the orphanage, says it is because he is new to the
place. Originally from Thazanguda, Mahasewaren lost his father to
the Tsunami. The burden of bringing up five children is too much
for his surviving mother. She has no choice but to send Mahasewaren
and his two sisters to the orphanage. To allay his homesickness,
Mahasewaren’s mother shows up on 27 Jan 2005 to bring him
and his sisters back home for a few days. |
