Our Culture is Our Resistance - Jonathan Moller

Nebaj, Quiché, Guatemala, 2000.

The remains of the mother, father, and wife of don Daniel. The remains of four others, his aunt, little brother, his infant child, and sister in law, had already been lifted from the same grave.

The seven were massacred by an army patrol as they fled into the mountains in August 1982.

Under the cover of darkness Daniel had returned to that spot to bury them two days after the massacre, and now, after years of living in hiding in the mountains, he requested that their remains be exhumed and returned to him for a proper reburial.
