Three
and a half hours where the rain never ends. High in the clouds, and
a climb that becomes progressively harder, the shale becomes sharper,
the journey barefoot is an act of total devotion. At the peak of Croagh
Patrick, the Holy Mountain in Ireland, Saint Patrick is reputed
to have stayed for a month during his conversion, and in the rain
and wind, the climbers will say mass before the ordeal of the return.
