I had been in the emergency room earlier and they knew I did not have health coverage. I didn’t have health insurance when I started to get sick, and with a "Pre-existing Condition" health insurance companies won’t touch me. My mother had to put down a $5,000 cash deposit before they would admit me. As with the monetary support, the emotional support from them was just as great. I’ve always felt guilty about the enormous amount of money they have spent to take care of me, but it always has been a non-issue for them.
