Regarding
Ameisenhaufen's dismissal from his university position, also mentioned
aboved by Fischer, there still exists the letter sent by Dr. Walter
Frank, the cancellor at that time. The letter maintains a polite, almost
friendly tone, but then, Frank makes hardly any concrete statements;
his ambiguous letter had to, rather, be read between the lines. The
letter, dated November 7, 1932, includes the following passage: We deeply
regret that a scientist of your stature could commit the error of the
following a false path that is of little scientific value... Moreover,
the letter indicates that the professor's students must have already
been informed about his discoveries, which was certainly the ground
for his sensational dismissal.
