"An Ongoing
Diary"
Day 28
|
It was great to see a picture 20 stories high. Considering the pictures I saw in London and on which I commented earlier on in this diary, those images then I thought were already big, this then are like REALLY BIG! I would love to do an exhibition of photographs instead of inside a Museum, on the sides of the Museum as well as the buildings next to it. In fact the city of New York is starting to look a great deal like a Museum with everything being presented in extra extra large sizes. Consider the eraser by Oldenburg, it certainly fits into these mega sizes so prevalent in New York. Or consider the Macintosh ibook advertising that does not even carry the corporate logo of the Apple. It's just the product, like the eraser.
Ridley Scott directed Blade Runner in 1982, already a classic film. It is perhaps one of the most popular cult films ever, covering territory from film noir to cyberpunk. Dark sets and locations in a dystopic Los Angeles of 2019 seem to me to have come alive around Times Square in New York, 2001.
Wherever my eyes rested all I could see was Blade Runner images.
I enjoy standing there with my digital camera with absolutely no one paying any attention to me.
In the evening I had a surprise birthday party for Trisha, my wife, at the Chinese restaurant were we first met. 25 friends joined us for a wonderful celebration.
