Doña Thelma's shop in the district of Normandie sells both cleaning and magical products.

It turns out that Doña Thelma is the mother of Curacaos's best known gallery owner. When I was told this, I was surprised that mother and daughter have created for themselves worlds that are so different: the world of art and the world of physical and spiritual cleanliness.

Doña Thelma tells me that Santa Lucia is Curacao's favourite saint because she is a bringer of light. I buy several of them because without light photography would not exist.
