Red Living Room

I found the owner of this house waiting at the door for admirers to show up. My friend Geraldine Gaari (owner of an art gallery) invited us to take photographs during one full day in the neighborhood of Normandie, where this man lived.

It was a very humble neighborhood that had been affected by Shell's oil industry.

The owner told me that he paints his house every year. Red was his favourite color in the year 2000.

He lives by himself. He likes creating a unity between the furniture, the walls and the memories that surround his existence. His beautiful and tidy house could have been featured in Interiors magazine, a richman's dream carried out by a "poor" man with a lot of imagination. This is how today's fashions often arise.
